Applied Scientist, Operation Research

Our client, a leading organisation in the global market, is seeking a talented individual to join their team as an Applied Scientist, Operation Research in Dublin city (fully on-site).

Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with business experts to develop complex models for resource planning, inventory and cost management, quality control, and more in public cloud operations.
* Create tools to quantify and demonstrate the impact of model input changes, seeking optimal results.
* Work closely with software development teams to implement simulation solutions and mathematical models in a production environment.

Requirements:
* PhD with a research focus on operation research, decision science, supply chain management, or econometrics.
* Experience in converting real-world problems into mathematical models using techniques such as analytical modelling, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or BIP.
* Proficiency in optimisation techniques, such as convex optimisation, linear optimisation, or dynamic programming.
* Strong programming skills in Python, R, C, C++ or Julia.
* Cloud background.
* Working/research experience in supply chain simulation or other business/operation simulations using commercial or open-source tools.
* Proven track record of navigating through ambiguity and delivering results.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills.
* Preferred previous work experience or internships at cloud service providers or in data centre planning and operations.
* Working/research experience in demand forecasting and planning.
* Familiarity with cloud infrastructure.
* Understanding of causal inference.
